NESQUIK Chocolate Powder Recalled Over Salmonella Risk

Nestlé USA is recalling a limited number of NESQUIK Chocolate Powder because one of the product’s ingredients is involved in a recall.

The recalled ingredient, calcium carbonate, was supplied by Omya Inc., which recently issued a recall of particular lots of calcium carbonate due to the possible presence of Salmonella bacteria.

The NESQUIK recall is limited to the 10.9, 21.8 and 40.7 ounce canisters with the following UPC and Production Codes:

  • 40.7 oz. size – UPC Code 0 28000 68230 9; Production Codes of 2282574810 and 2282574820
  • 21.8 oz. size – UPC Code 028000 68090 9; Production Codes of 2278574810, 2278574820, 2279574810, 2279574820, 2284574820, 2284574830, 2285574810, 2285574820, 2287574820, 2289574810 and 2289574820
  • 10.0 oz. size – UPC Code 0 28000 67990 3; Production Code of 2278574810

The affected NESQUIK powder was produced in early October2012. It was distributed nation-wide and has an expiration date of BEST BEFORE Oct. 2014.
