Hospitals Contacting Patients Over NECC Steroids Recall

In This Article

Local clinics and hospitals are sending out letters to patients who received injections from the New England Compounding Center (NECC) that were linked to a nationwide outbreak of meningitis.

All products from the NECC have been recalled even though only certain steroid injections are believed to have been contaminated with meningitis.

State health officials say that while NECC products were sent and used at 44 health care facilities in Alabama, none of them were the tainted injections. The following clinics received NECC products:

  • Gulf Health Hospital, Fairhope
  • South Baldwin Regional Medical Center, Foley
  • Alabama Orthopaedic Clinic, PC, Mobile
  • Mobile Infirmary, Mobile
  • Mobile Surgery Center, Mobile
  • Springhill Medical Center-Cardio, Mobile

To date, 19 Alabama residents have received the infected NECC injections, but all victims received the injections at clinics in Florida or Tennessee.
