This rule applies to all of Alabama&#8217;s state courts. However, Alabama&#8217;s two federal district courts are taking different approaches. In the Northern and Middle Districts, all jury trials are postponed and it&#8217;s using videoconferencing for other hearings. In the Southern District, hearings are going forward, sometimes using videoconferencing technology, and there are strict limits on who can enter the courthouse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In contrast, Mississippi\u2019s state courts remain open; many are offering video hearings. Its federal courts are taking different approaches. While the Northern District of Mississippi continues to hear cases, often by video and teleconference, the Southern District has postponed everything but essential hearings.
